International Exchange

To promote international cooperation and exchange, each IGSSE doctoral candidate spends at least three months at a foreign partner university or scientific institution. 

There are more than 140 TUM partnerships with foreign universities, including cooperation agreements especially tailored to IGSSE. This network provides an excellent framework for international doctoral candidates´exchange. IGSSE members can also draw on the TUM-GS at 5 continents program of the TUM Graduate School.

Grants of 4,000 Euros per IGSSE doctoral candidate (travel, living allowance) are being provided by the Graduate School. Please note that you need to have accumulated 10 RTP credits before your stay abroad and only stays of at least four weeks can be credited against the mandatory three months. Funds for short-term exchanges and international meetings etc. are available within your doctoral scholarship.  

Industrial Exchange

IGSSE encourages its doctoral candidates to get "first-hand" industrial experience during an internship in a national or international company. There are many links between TUM departments and their industrial partners which the candidates can build on.

International Doctoral Symposia

IGSSE organizes internationally focused doctoral symposia where docatoral candidates and MSc students, scientific staff and guests from academia and industry come together for several days in order to discuss cross-curricular topics.
