As the follow up of the "4D City" progress meeting took place in Wuhan University in China 3 months ago, we invited PI Dr. Timo Balz from State Key Laboratory for Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS), Wuhan University to further discuss the visualization task in our project.
The meeting took place on August 1st 2012, in German Aerospace Center (DLR) Oberpfaffenhofen, in the form of a open seminar. Dr. Balz presented his recent research progress and ideas on the topic of "Web-based interactive visualization of PS-InSAR and TomoSAR results". The talk mentioned a few possibilities of displaying PS-InSAR and TomoSAR point cloud on the website, including displaying real-time rendered 2D images and interactive WebGL based 3D point cloud visualization. Dr. Balz also demonstrated a prototype of such interactive website he recently developed.
Participants included PI Prof. Dr. Richard Bamler, project team leader Dr. Xiaoxiang Zhu, Ph.d candidate Yuanyuan Wang, and also tens of visualization and remote sensing experts from the Earth Observation Center (EOC) in DLR. To many of us, web-based visualization of remote sensing data was an unknown and interesting direction. Hot discussion on the development of web-based visualization in DLR, and the solution tailor to our project continued after the seminar.
