The Board of IGSSE is formed by the Director, seven Principal Investigators and the Speakers of the Council of Project Team Leaders and the Graduate Council.

The Board is responsible for the strategic orientation of IGSSE and finances. The Director chairs the Board and the Management Office and represents the IGSSE with regard to in-house and external affairs. He is a member of the TUM Graduate School Committee of Graduate Center Spokespersons.

The integration of external scientific expertise is ensured by the Scientific Council which advises the Director on general scientific, organizational and technical issues.
